Abhishek Sharma

Abhishek Sharma is a junior fellow focused on the Indo-Pacific in the Strategic Studies Programme at the Observer Research Foundation. He recently completed his PhD at the Department of East Asian Studies, University of Delhi, where he researched the strategic utility of North Korea’s cyber capabilities.

His research interests lie at the intersection of geopolitics and critical emerging technologies in the Indo-Pacific, with a particular focus on cyber capabilities, cybercrime, and cyber warfare. He was a non-resident Kelly Fellow at the Pacific Forum and a Network for Advanced Study of China fellow at the Takshashila Institution. He holds a first-class master’s in international relations from South Asian University.

In 2022, Abhishek was selected as a Quadmin Emerging Leader and an National Committee on American Foreign Policy Emerging Leader, where he contributed policy briefs on the Quad’s cyber cooperation and North Korea’s peacetime cyber capabilities. His writing has appeared in Nikkei Asia, NK News, the Diplomat, the National Interest, the Observer Research Foundation, South Korea Pro, and 9Dashline.
