Charl van der Walt is a seasoned cybersecurity professional who co‑founded SensePost in 2000, helping develop it from a small South African penetration‑testing startup into an international security training and advisory firm, later integrated into SecureData UK. After years building and leading its teams and eventually serving as CEO, he became Strategic Director at SecureData. After another merger he took on the role of Global Head of Security Research at Orange Group’s dedicated cyberdefense division, which provides managed security, threat detection and response, and consulting services across multiple continents. Alongside his work, van der Walt is well known in the infosec community for technical presentations and training courses at Black Hat Briefings, 44CON, BSides, NATO CCDCOE’s CyCon, the RSA Conference, and other venues, as well as expert commentary published by major media outlets.
