
Ian Donahue is a master’s candidate in international affairs at Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies in Bologna, Italy, where he focuses on European security and humanitarian governance. He holds a bachelor’s degree in comparative international policy from Michigan State University’s James Madison College and has served as a humanitarian volunteer across three continents, including in Ukraine and Mozambique. Working alongside civilians and first responders in fragile and conflict-affected environments has shaped his commitment to international public service. His research and writing examine how global institutions can better prevent escalation, protect civilians, and manage emerging security threats in a rapidly fragmenting international order.
